Produced in an acrylic and wool mix, our Libertas Skully features an all-over, contrast-color print of broken shackles, invoking sculptor Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi’s original design for Lady Liberty holding shackles in her left hand to commemorate the end of slavery; a monument intentionally built to celebrate emancipation, relocated to her feet and obscured before completion following American funders’ rejection of Bartholdi’s vision.
